Eating Crepes

My story, Eating Crepes in Colombia, appears in and inspired the charming anthology, Let Them Eat Crepes: Stories Featuring the French Pancake. The book is available online at and at various Minnesota shops.
I never really had a clear understanding of what, exactly, Colombian food was, but I was pretty sure it wasn’t crêpes. My mother had told me about my paternal grandmother’s black beans and tamales, the salty arepas you could buy on the street corners, and the deep bowls of sancocho that accompanied every family gathering.
